My name’s Josh, and Golgi Graphics is what happens when a scientist gets distracted by graphic design and animation.

I did a PhD in Computational Developmental Biology, and during that time I found that visualising complex results was not only fun for me, but also genuinely useful for engaging other scientists in my research. I eventually realised that science illustrators and animators exist, and one career pivot later, I now get to do it full time as a freelancer.

What I enjoy most about my work is collaborating with brilliant, friendly researchers and getting to learn about niche science I might never have encountered otherwise. In turn it’s just as rewarding to see the reactions to the designs I put my very best into.
